Kims Software Overview
The Kims Software is a cloud based application that is at the core of the Kims Implementation Program and it consists of 4 main components
Kims Software Overview: System Setup
Manages user authorities, personalization to your company, document templates, company information, etc.
Kims Software Overview: IMS Maintenance
Kims Software Overview: IMS Implementation
Manages your CMS implementation project to assist in ensuring that the CMS is implemented effectively and efficiently. It consists of a user maintainable schedule (including responsibility allocations) for all the activities in your company as updated during the 1st step of the IMS Maintenance to ensure integration throughout the system and allows you to manage the progress and execution of the CMS Implementation.
Kims Software Overview: IMS Operation
Under “IMS Maintenance”, when documenting how a function within your company is done, you create a procedure (or use our template) to describe the activities required to execute the function and how they must be executed.
Kims then repeatedly converts these activities into an actionable execution every time that a procedure is done in your company and thereby ensuring that all procedures are executed correctly, efficiently and consistently – saving you time and money.
This results in effective tender and project management, including summary registers, recording of execution, online document management & access, etc,
Kims Software Cost
There are no “upfront” payment for the Kims Software System and the monthly cost are as follows:
– R 149.50 per month including full access to the system for 1 user
– R 49.50 per month for each additional user
– Each additional user (except the participant in the implementation project) are required to complete the KIM05: Kims End User Operational Training via e-Learning
Kims Program Overview & Introduction
At the outset it is extremely important to note that although this seems like a LOT OF WORK, it is actually a lot less than it seems as the Kims Software is actually doing most of the work!
It is also very important to note that Kims, or any management system standard for that matter, does not replace any transactional software package that you are currently using, but rather compliments these resulting in a complete integrated and efficient overall management system.
The Kims (Kimomanzi Integrated Management System) Program is designed to address the challenges facing contractors when implementing management system standards such as SANS 1393 or the ISO equivalent covering Quality-, Health & Safety- and Environmental management systems.
There are 3 base components to the Kims Program Workshops, namely e-Learning, contact workshops and the Kims software. We integrated these in a way that provides the attendee the freedom to do the workshops in a way that suits him/her, when it suits him/her, by maximising the e-Learning, without losing the value of the “eye-to-eye” discussions during the contact workshops, whilst the online Kims Software training databases, providing guidance throughout, allows him/her the ability to test and “play” in a practical operational environment prior to activating the “real time system” for their company.
CMS01: Program Orientation & Introduction (2 day Contact Workshop)
The CMS01 Contact workshop can be viewed as the “kick-off'” of your Construction Management System implementation project, providing you with a conceptual understanding of the basic concepts that you need to successfully operate within the guidelines of your management system.
The intention is not to make you an expert in any of these fields, but rather to enable you to practically operate and execute efficiently. Take driving a car for example – you need to know what the car can and is suppose to do practically, but you don’t need to know all the intricate detail working of the engine to be able to be a good driver. That being said – the more you know, the better you operate! The purpose is to find that optimum balance between theoretical knowledge and practical execution.
Although the CMS01 is a 2-day contact workshop, the content is also made available in e-Learning format, facilitating revision and to refer back to at any time during the implementation project.
The CMS01 workshop covers:
– CMS02: Management systems and management system standards overview
– CMS03: “cidb Best Practice Contractor Recognition Scheme”
– CMS04: Business Model & Project Management Integration with Kims
– CMS05: SANS 1393: Construction Management System Requirements Overview
– KIM01: Kims IMS Software System Configuration.
KIM02: Implementation Project Planning & Responsibility Management (Via e-Learning)
To ensure that the implementation of your Construction Management System (CMS) is done efficiently and successfully, it needs to be managed and controlled properly with definitive milestones, responsibility allocation, etc. – in short – very much like you would manage a construction project.
To save you time and assist you to manage your implementation project successfully, we have developed a basic project management tool that already includes all the required activities and all you must do is confirm (or modify) them, allocate responsibility and set the time frame / schedule that suits your circumstances best, taking your own time and resource availability into account. All you then have to do is execute the plan and monitor the progress.
KIM02 is an e-Learning, online guide assisting you to identify any shortcomings of your current system in relation to the standards, plan your implementation and monitor / manage the progress and success.
KIM03: Kims IMS Development – Structure (Via e-Learning)
KIM03 is an e-Learning workshop focusing on the development of the base structure of your CMS in relation to your business model and project management principles as defined by PMI (Project Management Institute).
The structure is pre-set in the Kims system and the objective of the KIM01 workshop is to assist you to understand how the system works and to provide guidance to enable you to make the changes (if any) to fine-tune the structure to your requirements.
A very important aspect covered by this workshop is the effect that the CMS structure has on the operational execution thereof as discussed in workshop CMS05.
CMS06: Progress Review & Implementation Preparation (1-day contact workshop)
CMS06 is a 1-day contact workshop and its purpose are:
– To review the progress of the participants and resolve any issues they may have
– Treview and discuss the CMS07 and KIM04 e-Learning workshops that the must use in the development of their own procedure.
CMS07: Procedure Development Process (Via e-Learning)
CMS07 is an e-Learning program that will take you through the steps involved in developing an effective and efficient procedure.
KIM04: Kims IMS Development – Procedures (Via e-Learning)
The KIM04 e-Learning workshop will provide guidance and take you step-by-step through the suggested procedures that are included in the Kims system and teach you how to allocate responsibility for procedures, personalize the procedures to your environment and change, delete or modify the procedures to suit your requirements.
As with KIM03 a very important part of this workshop is to provide you with an understanding of the correlation and integration between the development of the procedures and the actual execution thereof in the operation functions of the Kims system.
On conclusion of this workshop your CMS and all its processes and procedures should be completed and approved for operational implementation.
CMS08: Progress Review & Procedure Implementation & operation (1-day contact workshop)
CMS08 is the last contact workshop to review and discuss your completed procedures and to assist you in planning the operational “rollout” of your CMS
KIM05: Kims end User Operational Training (Via e-Learning)
The KIM05 e-Learning workshop is aimed at training all employees involved in the ongoing operational, practical daily execution of the CMS procedures on the Kims system.
